that, and......we have deported almost 1% of the population, in a context where 2-3% is considered strong economic growth, and federal deficit is 6% of GDP.

I would suggest the pain we are feeling is just the restructuring to the new normal. It is simply not possible to fix the illegal immigration problem and the federal deficit without massive economic pain.

I don't disagree. We agree on what is wrong and even on the solutions of most of it. My concerns is how he is doing it, his disregard for the laws in place and his attempts to expand Executive Power.

In all fairness, Congress is not helping. Johnson has pretty much rolled over, the Dems will not cross the aisle and they are more interested in their own wealth than doing the job they were elected.

the laws in place say they should all be deported.

You know I am not talking immigration...

I know you can't stand him, but he's not done anything that hasn't been squarely within law. Keeps racking up wins in court. He's got one I think he'll lose (birthright citizenship) and one that could go either way (tariffs). Other than that, he's squarely in the mainstream.

He is pushing the Executive Branch close to Authoritarianism. We fought against that around the world, now same people signing on for him. This isn't a like or dislike thing, it is a trust thing. i do not trust him.

I neither like Trump nor trust him, but he really isn't doing much with executive power that other presidents before him have not. However, he does use very different rhetoric.

i would disagree that it is just rhetoric. He is using War Powers in peacetime. He is declaring National Emergencies for everyday issues. He has Federalized and mobilized troops more in his time of office than the past 40 years. There is a lot that even Cheney didnt push.

Where is he using the War Powers Act in ways that recent presidents have not? Other recent presidents have carried out many military operations around the world, none with the benefit of a Congressional declaration of war.

Maybe enforcing existing immigration laws isn't actually "authoritarian."

Maybe people being gunned down in our cities is a national emergency and calling them "everyday issues" is not the proper description. I have suggested putting National guardsmen in Chicago literally for decades, but I assumed it would be the state governor's action.

His actions aren't much different from those before him, but he doesn't offer pretty sounding rhetoric as a fig leaf.

Actually, Sir, my life is pretty good. My only regret about retiring early is that I didn't do it sooner. I worry about the hardworking people in our country that are suffering and living paycheck to paycheck and the Trump Administration seems totally oblivious. The job market is absolutely horrendous right now.

Those that have a job are hanging on to it for dear life. Employers readily admit they are in "no hire/ no fire" mode.

I think the numbers are being manipulated to achieve the desired result of Trump and his YES men and women. The government shutdown is a nice excuse to blame for any inaccuracies or irregularities.

Have always considered you a pretty intelligent poster. Yet you seem to have bought into Trump's "Bestest economy in the history of the world" narrative.

The upper class is still spending money.
The middle class has cut back and maxing out credit cards, taking out home equity loans, and taking retirement funds early (with severe penalties).
The lower class is simply spending and struggling to put bread on the table.

Shouldn't limit your genius to us mere internet slobs.

My Lord you have gotten dramatic in your old age! Your post is a little over the top simply addressing someone that has an opinion different than your own.

I really don't mind being a part of the unwashed masses. I am about to put on my $8.99 plastic watch from Wal-Mart and get on the tractor and do some shredding. Enjoy the rest of your afternoon.

Old age or not strongly suspect my cardiovascular system is cleaner than yours.

You might wish to stop riding and start walking.

Shredding 30-40 libs might prolong your life.

Look how many more people you could educate .

You sound like my wife.

For the record, if I lose 40 lbs. that would put me at 180 lbs. That's what I weighed in the 8th grade. Not going back there.

I really appreciate your concern about my health. That is really kinda sweet.

You should know when the good Lord takes me, I won't be running a marathon or drinking green tea. Sorry.
Call it a tax, the people are outraged! Call it a tariff, the people get out their checkbooks and wave their American flags!!!

Bessent for president

O-u-t of t-o-u-c-h.................

Like Trump, you cannot fix a problem until you are willing to acknowledge that there is a problem.

Golden age my ass!!!

Your problems are not my concern.

And you shouldn't demand Trump fixes them for you.

You chose to retire early. Deal with your financial choices.

Actually, Sir, my life is pretty good. My only regret about retiring early is that I didn't do it sooner. I worry about the hardworking people in our country that are suffering and living paycheck to paycheck and the Trump Administration seems totally oblivious. The job market is absolutely horrendous right now.

Job market is horrendous……

What is the current unemployment rate ?

Those that have a job are hanging on to it for dear life. Employers readily admit they are in "no hire/ no fire" mode.

Regarding the numbers being reported by our current leadership, I think Mark Twain said it best.
"There are three kinds of lies: Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics."

https://www.nbcnews.com/business/business-news/job-cuts-layoffs-october-challenger-rcna242306

So if you don't like the numbers ….they are a lie.

Perfect

You and 47 should get together and go jogging.

Yep

Your intuition is far superior and more reliable than any statistical information coming from the Labor Department

Who could possibly doubt it ?

Now get outside and alert the masses.

Dude as far as being dramatic is concerned; it was just a few months ago you were going absolutely ape **** about the stock market. Post after post screaming how Trump was hurting you. Finally told you everything was going to be alright...and it is.

Now you are on your latest panic....the job market. But of course you don't have any 'horrendous' data....so you just ***** anyway.

Get's tiresome.

Go ride your tractor.....bet its a real beauty.

Okay. You win. The job market in the U.S. in November of 2025 is fabulous and every day in the Trump Administration is sunshine and 72 degrees.

Yep, my Kubota tractor is a fine machine. Luckily I bought it right before the tariffs.
Call it a tax, the people are outraged! Call it a tariff, the people get out their checkbooks and wave their American flags!!!
