I wonder if they are all in California, NYC, Chicago, or a few other places. In the most expensive blue cities a middle class family will struggle relative to a family in places like Texas or Florida. But six figures is not normal middle class. If they are struggling to get by at that income level, even in blue cities, maybe they need to sell the second home, sports cars, and other extravagances.

I dont disagree but if you have a mortgage pmt at 6-7% on a million or 1.5 mill house plus property taxes that eats up a lot of monthly cash.

I think Congress needs to kill gerrymandering. A balance budget doesn't address our competing priorities that can change every two years as the House switches control.

Killing gerrymandering (in theory) means that the representatives, through their ideas, are responsive to the people. Safe seats hurts the country.

The man is totally disconnected with the working class of the United States. His "I should have a 150 percent approval rating" pretty much says it all. How do you fix or improve things if you are not willing to even admit that problems exist? It may be too late for the midterms. Unless Trump gets his head out of the sand.

That is impossible. The constitution establishes the process for redistricting to be done by state legislatures. It's always going to be political and thus partisan. Gerrymandering is inevitable. It's also been normal for 200 years. There is no reason to end it.

A balanced budget is g to be first and essential step in addressing our insane national debt. That should be a priority. With a balanced budget and a reduction of the debt the economy can become more stable and more productive.

How do you "balance a budget?" Used to be you wanted cheese and I wanted butter. We'd resolve via pork. That worked because cheese helped your folks and butter mine.

Today, without pork and competition, I need do nothing.

Killing Gerry takes nothing away from the state. It just ensures we push for representative districts that the states can still finalize.
As of August 7th, I'm not sure we've passed the budget.

The thing about addressing the debt, is that it's so huge that even solid and valid efforts to lower it would take so long that political challengers would win elections by claiming the incumbents were not having any effect, then when they take office the new politicians would have no incentive to try to address the debt, knowing their political rivals could unseat them with their own tactics.

Only way the debt really gets addressed is if God delivers a miracle where we get a wave of elected officials who are honest, committed, tiny egos, and immune to political pressure.

Jesus had an easier time feeding thousands with a few loaves and a couple fish.
That which does not kill me, will try again and get nastier

In theory balancing the budget is simple: spending less than what comes in from revenues. Obviously, it's far more difficult in practice. The first requirement is honesty and integrity in Congress. I know, that idea is a joke.

Reduce military spending, reduce social security, reduce Medicare. Total federal government spending is permitted to reach only 90 percent of revenue until the debt is under 50 percent of GDP.

Pass a law that prohibits anyone who is a member of Congress when a budget is passed outside those parameters from running for re-election.

A few other ideas:

End all payments of any kind to foreigner individuals in the US.
Deport all illegals, recover as much as possible what they have stolen.
End all pensions or other payouts to former members of Congress.
Hard cap on all govt hiring except military personnel, border patrol, etc. Those are constitutionally authorized and far more important than almost all other employees.
Close down every govt program that has a history of fraud.
Pass into law all the cuts proposed by DOGE.
All remaining govt programs (except military, ICE, etc) downsized by at least 10%
Cut pay in half for high end govt employees
Freeze salaries at current levels for all govt employees. No raises until we have a balanced budget.

If you get an IPO. That one happened to set a record. Many do not.

I do agree with Cuban on the stock and I would like to see Executive Bonuses and Golden Parachutes trickled down. Right now, there is no motivation for the "C" level to do anything but take care of themselves. In right to work states, there is no recourse for restructuring or layoffs while they make enormous bonuses.

Most people don't realize how big of a growth wave we are currently experiencing.

So far, with 88% of S&P 500 companies reporting earnings, the index has posted +50.4% growth in earnings year-over-year.

To put this into perspective, the already astronomical expectation of +23.1% growth has been more than doubled.

This will mark the 2nd consecutive quarter of earnings growth above +25% and the 7th consecutive quarter of double-digit earnings growth for the S&P 500.

The last time growth was this strong was in Q2 2021 as the US economy emerged from the pandemic and $4+ trillion in stimulus was handed out.

We are arguably in the midst of the biggest technological revolution in US history.

The data is absolutely insane.

It still blows my mind that the national debt has doubled from $20 trillion to $40 trillion in the last 10 years alone... so many debt ceilings have been blown open and so much money has been printed...
