The thing about addressing the debt, is that it's so huge that even solid and valid efforts to lower it would take so long that political challengers would win elections by claiming the incumbents were not having any effect, then when
they take office the new politicians would have no incentive to try to address the debt, knowing
their political rivals could unseat them with their own tactics.
Only way the debt really gets addressed is if God delivers a miracle where we get a wave of elected officials who are honest, committed, tiny egos, and immune to political pressure.
Jesus had an easier time feeding thousands with a few loaves and a couple fish.
