It's a tricky situation. The US has the best medicine in the world precisely because so much money is available for research and new drugs/procedures. I have an artificial knee made from a titanium/plastic alloy, designed and patented (the knee and the material, both) by Dr. Wayne Alani. It would literally be impossible to get this anywhere else.
I survived my cancer because of groundbreaking research at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center by Dr. Mark Franklin. Again, the work done was through funding paid for by more ordinary procedures.
So there is a place for uncommon diagnoses and new technology.
I'd just like more transparency on how it all works, and maybe less corporate structure to making people whole.
