Reminds us of how fruitful all the "No Kings Day" rallies were inasmuch as the USA has no king.

America is so becoming so unaffordable, CBS is launching a new series called "Affordability in America"

Americans are seeing price increases of an additional $50-$100 for the same cart of groceries in just one month

- 67% of Americans are stressed about financials
- 39% price increases on tomatoes from last year
- Ground beef over $10 a pound in many grocery stores
- Fish and seafood up 6%

Nothing has felt affordable since Biden took office

It's not just groceries

Full-coverage car insurance has risen 43% nationally since 2021

- Coffee up 20%+
- Fruits and vegetables up 6%
- Rents have increased as much as 40% in some areas

Americans are being priced out of their own homes

Not saying food isn't going up, but where in the USA are people paying $10 a pound for ground beef?

It's close to that now at my local HEB. It was $10 per pound a few weeks ago and now is over $8 but it could easily go higher. Granted, I'm talking about extra lean. I won't buy beef with too much fat.

Spot. On. The definition of inflation itself has been corrupted.

"The next mistake is visible in plain sight. Keynesians on Wall Street and inside the Fed are treating a supply shock as if it were a demand boom and calling for tighter money. This is dogma masquerading as seriousness. A chokepoint in the Strait of Hormuz, a jump in energy prices, and a cost shock rolling through transport, food, and manufacturing are not evidence of overheated demand. They are evidence of a damaged supply side."

On the cost of fast food: it's still possible to save money depending on where you go, what you order, and how big your appetite. My appetite is not as great as it used to be do sometimes I order off the kid's menu. Other times, I will select a few low cost items that suit my tastes. Also, I often take good home and avoid the $3 sodas. A local DQ still has a combo mess as l for $6-7 with burger (or chicken of steak fingers), fries, drink, & ice cream. It's on the kid's menu but it satisfies. Similarly, I can get a decent meal at Sonic for less than $10 by taking it home. If one is creative, one should be able to do something similar at almost any fast food place.

Another way to save: get the app on your phone and take advantage of deals & rewards. My Mom had a McD's breakfast sandwich for $2.50 this morning.

Since the "U.S. economy is Booming" and we have the "hottest economy in the world", and inflation is rising again, wouldn't an interest rate hike make the most sense? Trump can't have it both ways. At least he has shifted away from blaming Joe Biden for everything to blaming the Iran War. A war which he started.

read the article. It explains why raising interest rates in response to a supply side shock is counter-productive.

with this inflation and jobs number, Interests go up, not down. Warsh is just one of 12 votes. He is sober fella. I don't think he will be Trump Bootlicker. He will follow the Fed Mandate. Plus, he's worth hundreds of millions, so he doesn't need the $. He earned it and came by it the old fashioned way. Danny-Twink. Do you wear Este Lauder?

I gave up soda and stank in my coffee about 10 years ago. All the kids drink water. Reduces cost at restaurants and our health has improved. (I need to give up booze next)

Wise move.

I still drink soda on occasion, but it's rare. I generally drink water most of the time. Like you said, it's healthier. I gave up the booze long ago. It's far too expensive and I don't have to worry about driving after drinking water.

I'm the opposite of you. I recently started. I'm the guy on zoom meeting blowing bourbon in my coffee cup. Coffee is good today, I'm known for saying.

My doc gave me great advice a few years back. Drink coffee black and get workouts done before 7:00. He says "I'm busy, too"

The top 10 percent of income earners pay 72 percent of taxes. Looks like a national sales tax would be more progressive.
