One small silver lining to leaving Afghanistan and no longer needing to bribe Pakistan, we may start realigning more closely to India. I guess what I'm saying is, they especially can choke on that popcorn.

Could be the fuel costs are how they are paying the bribes to the Taliban to allow US to continue to operate the airport. Taliban could shut that airport down any time they choose to.

These reporters are betting their lives on credentials issued by the Taliban commanders and the discipline of the Taliban grunts on the ground. I appreciated the reports, but these guys are taking huge risks to do on the street reporting.

UK Para2 troops are going into Kabul to rescue UK citizens.

US troops are not, thus half empty planes leaving Kabul.

The Pentagon was pressed Thurs to explain why the U.S. isn't rescuing Americans outside Kabul airport when British Paratroopers are

"At this time, our main mission continues to be to secure HKIA, to allow those US citizens & other SIVs to come in & be processed at the airfield."

To be fair, I think humckleberry has completely lost his mind over trying to accept biden's fubar'd mess. He's still in stage 1 - denial.

In an effort to deflect biden's blame onto someone else, the last few days he's feverishly tried to throw as much crap against the wall hoping for something, anything to stick. Unfortunately for him, he's only ended up with sh-it all over his hands.

My aunt, who is 100% team Biden, posted this on her Facebook:

Ok, imma stir the pot here, but I have to say this:
We needed to get out of Afghanistan.
Completely.
Full stop.
Yes I am worried about those left behind. Yes I wish we had left years ago.
Here's my reasoning.
Suppose you had a neighbor who was being abused, physically and mentally, by his or her spouse. The kids were also being abused. Being the kind person you are, you offer to take the abused person and the kids to a shelter. They agree, and you slip away while the abuser is at work.
When the abuser returns home from work, he/she finds out what happened and beats the windows out of your car with a baseball bat.
You swallow hard, bite your lip, and your insurance fixes the car. A few days later, the spouse and kids leave the shelter and return back home to their abuser, who is ok for a little while.
Two months later, same scenario: shelter, baseball bat, fix car, family back together a few days later.
This goes on for two years.
Question: at what point do you say "there's no future in this. I cannot help these people. I need to leave them alone. Nothing will change because of my actions, and doing this is hurting me. I am done here"

That is the situation in Afghanistan.
You are the USA.
The abusive neighbor is the Taliban, and the spouse and kids are the Afghani population.
(Note that not all citizens there want the Taliban back, but much like your neighbor's kids, they are just along for the ride and cannot change anything.)
