Seems like a big story. I'd like to see some more media coverage to see if this is true.

CBS confirms

CNN has been following up with questions to the State Department - and Administration, and as they said: Crickets so far from the Administration.

the Biden admin is doing the ignore it and it will go away thing and the media is helping to some degree.. it is maddening!
I think you're right about Biden. So far the media has kept the issue the forefront, especially after yesterday's revelation about citizens being held for ransom.
The media has kept the issue at hand but they've gone out of their way to dissolve Biden of any wrongdoing.
IDK - I've seen some pretty harsh commentary and interviews that put the Biden administration on the spot. The administration has been grilled over what the military advised about withdrawal, maintaining a foot print during withdrawal, prematurely closing Bagram, and stranded Americans and SIV Afghanistans trying to get out. Evnen today about how State Dept. is claiming credit for getting an American and her children out over the border, when it was a private charitable organization that did it, with State Department refusing to assist, and even hindering them, until they actually made it to the boder. Then they stepped up to claim credit.
There's substantially less anger, concern or harsh commentary on this versus the outrage over Kavanagh and ACB.

Dead soldiers, a failed 20 year war, innocent children and women murdered gets less outrage than democrats concerned over political issues.

Diehard deomocrats will be partisan, as will republicans. Objective news media are typically more objective than partisans. It's definitely an outrage, that could stand more scrutiny by the news media. It will be interesting to see how the press conferences unfold, if Biden will allow any.

The new strict abortion law in Texas(regarding Kavanaugh and ACB) certainly does not affect my wife and I personally. If it results in Liberals not moving here or causes them to move to another state, I think it is a good thing! They should find them an abortion on demand state. Like with their voting, maybe they can find one with a drive-thru.

Biden people gonna hold this up until 9-11 and then celebrate the hard work of the State Department to bring these citizens home in an all-star celebrity celebration.

State Department obstruction of private rescue flights from Afghanistan revealed in leaked email

Quote:

Rick Clay, who runs the private rescue group PlanB, previously told Fox News that the State Department is the only thing preventing the flights he's organizing from leaving Afghanistan. Other organizers of separate rescue missions echoed Clay's criticisms to Fox News.

Quote:

Four Americans, a mom and her three children, were able to escape Afghanistan on Monday by traveling overland across the border to a neighboring country.

While the State Department claimed to have "facilitated" the family's evacuation, the organizers behind the rescue mission said that the department was exaggerating its involvement and deserves little to no credit for the rescue.

Yep

State Dept. won't give private rescue flights OK to leave Afghanistan

Quote:

White House press secretary Jen Psaki argued last week that the notion that the Biden administration was stopping such initiatives was incorrect.

Quote:

On Friday, Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) blamed the State Department for blocking a rescue mission he had sponsored from landing at Hamid Karzai International Airportin Kabul and told Fox News he had heard that "there are five planes sitting at [Mazar-i-Sharif] with AMCITS [American citizens], SIVs [Special Immigrant Visa holders], and refugees on it … but they can't get clearance to get out because no country is willing to help them."

Mullin also told Fox that he knows of 50 Americans who were unable to get on evacuation flights before the deadline and had to be "ran out of Kabul and put in safe houses around Afghanistan."

There's a reason I called them State weenies. Working with DOS was hands-down the hardest part of the job, every frickin' day. No teamwork. No customer service. Just constant needling & foot-dragging for no other purpose than to make you pay homage. In normal conditions, you can get your job done over/around their bureaucratic obstructionism. But when the balloon goes up, they lose their heads. Then, you have to just ignore them and go do your thing and theirs as well.

Critics Fault Biden Admin in Evacuation Stand-Off

U.S. Lawmakers and veterans trying to assist in the evacuation of 143 stranded Americans and many Afghan allies are growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of action by the Biden administration, which is insisting the Taliban's efforts to block flights from leaving the country is not a "hostage" crisis that the militant group controlling Afghanistan simply wants the proper documents from those seeking to leave.

Nonprofits working to evacuate those left behind after the Aug. 31 exit of all U.S. troops have been waiting for more than a week with six chartered planes at Mazar-i-Sharif in northern Afghanistan ready to depart the country. But those aircraft have remained on the ground first as State Department officials put up roadblocks and then as the Taliban issued demands, sources with first-hand information have told RealClearPolitics.

Appears this is a different group than the Americans at Mazar-i-Sharif in northern Afghanistan.

Taliban Allows Evacuation Of 200 Americans And Other Foreigners

After more than a week of suspense where the only thing keeping Americans remaining in Afghanistan safe was the Taliban's promise not to harm them, it looks like the Talibs have made good - at least so far as Americans are concerned. According to Al Jazeera and a flurry of other media reports, Afghanistan's Taliban authorities are allowing some 200 Americans and other foreign citizens to leave the country on a flight to Qatar scheduled for Thursday afternoon (local time).

Qatari officials speaking to WSJ insisted it wasn't an evacuation mission since all of those departing had foreign passports and permission from the Taliban to fly. Qatar even facilitated the passengers' transportation to the airport with a parade of minibuses. Most of these foreign citizens hold dual citizenship and are still considered Afghans. But they're far more fortunate than the tens of thousands of Afghans who remain in the country despite helping the American war effort.

During a Tuesday press briefing where they announced the new government, the Taliban said international travel would soon be revived. But he added that only those with lawful permission should leave (since the Taliban are working to stave off a brain drain.

"When Afghans and foreigners want to leave Afghanistan, they should do it lawfully, having a passport and visa," a Taliban spokesman said.

The big question now is, with international flights open once again, how with the Taliban prevent the feared 'brain drain' they worry will sap the country of skilled workers needed to make it run. Taliban leaders were "furious with the evacuation of skilled and educated people, who are greatly needed to rebuild the country," according to an internal UN readout from a recent meeting.

Put another way: if they don't have dual citizenship, many Afghans should probably get used to the idea of staying in the country.

Biden droned the wrong guy, innocent aid worker killed in Kabul strike: NYT

A US airstrike in Kabul against a supposed Islamic State bomber actually killed an innocent man who worked for a US aid group and his family, according to newly published testimony and footage raising the specter that the Pentagon lied to the public about the strike.

The reported case of mistaken identity also further tars President Biden for his chaotic pullout of US troops from Afghanistan, which left behind hundreds of US citizens and thousands of at-risk Afghans.

Zemari Ahmadi and nine members of his family, including seven children, were killed in the airstrike on Aug. 29, one day before the final US evacuation flights from Kabul, his brother Romal Ahmadi told the New York Times.

Ahmadi, who was the apparent target of the strike, worked for 14 years as a technical engineer in Afghanistan for the Pasadena, Calif.-based charity group Nutrition and Education International, which feeds hungry Afghans.

The aid group had applied for him to move to the US as a refugee.

New security footage from his workplace shows Ahmadi, whose neighborhood had unreliable water service, filling containers with water at his employer's office at 2:35 p,m. shortly before he returned home. Fire-damaged containers consistent with the water canisters were photographed by the Times.

He and colleagues, who had driven to work, also were carrying laptop computers that day, according to security footage, possibly explaining the military's claim that the targeted Toyota Corolla contained carefully wrapped packages.

The Times disputed the Pentagon's claim that secondary explosions demonstrated that explosive materials were ignited by the US Reaper drone's Hellfire missile.

Three weapons experts told the Times there was no evidence of a secondary explosion because there were no blown out walls or destroyed vegetation near the burned-out car. A small crater under car was consistent with a Hellfire missile, the experts said.

No. Just no.

War is miserable. The taking of a life in the name of freedom or safety is never a measure than can or should be taken lightly. Unfortunately, in any conflict, there are deaths that occur that are unintentional, horrible and accidental.

While this is terrible and incredibly unfortunate in no way should it fall on the President's shoulders in the manner you suggest.

He should take responsibility as the buck stops with him. He should speak about it. He should do a lot of things but this notion that we need to impeach every time there is a decision we don't like or a mistake (which is what this is; a failure of intel) is ridiculous and needs to stop.

The bar for impeachment should be incredibly high. My fear is that we have reached a point where every President going forward is going to face impeachment hearings. That is damaging to the country, unproductive and a terrible use of time and money.

War? I thought this was framed as a "non-combatant evacuation operation" by our fearless leaders?

If Trump can get impeached for making a ****ing phone call, Joe Biden should damn sure be impeached for killing innocent civilians (which included seven children).

I would just settle for Biden leaving office. People are dying due to his piss poor decision making. It is time for him to go.
