Those numbers say much more about our education system than they do about immigrants. The language barrier is always going to be an extra challenge for them. Immigrants shouldn't be 34% of the illiterate in this country. They should be like 94%. It's another case of scapegoating them for our failures.

Correct. Our Democrat-controlled educational establishment focused more on promoting divisive politics and transing children than education.

It doesn't say 34% of illegal immigrants lack proficiency. It says of all immigrants 34% lack proficiency. Let's get the numbers for the border violators.

What demographic do you think makes up those who "were born outside the U.S." oh brilliant General Health and Education Expert?

Not that anyone with a triple-digit IQ didn't realize the Old Media was a clown show, but its hysterics over large sanctuary cities having to handle a few thousand illegals just shines a like on its Idiocracy.

Texas and Florida should ship hundreds to every CNN and MSNBC reader's neighborhood.

Sacramento Takes Steps to Broaden its Status as Sanctuary City

Quote:

SACRAMENTO The city of Sacramento is broadening its status as a sanctuary city, following a statewide trend of push back against President Donald Trump and his administration's stated policies.

City Councilman Eric Guerra will head Sacramento's Sanctuary City Task Force a new body that will provide legal aid and resources for undocumented Sacramento residents, update a 1985 city ordinance defining Sacramento as a sanctuary city, and look for legal challenges to the Trump administration's policies both on immigration and on sanctuary cities.

The Pilgrims didn't sign up for welfare.

The Pilgrims were not assisted by Catholic, Lutheran, and left-wing NGOs who get tax-favored status.

The Pilgrims did not violate immigration laws.

The Pilgrims were political and religious refugees not economic immigrants.

The Pilgrims did not traffic children.

The Pilgrims did not enlist the aid of coyotes or narco-terrorists to help them violate immigration laws.

[American Workers Need Not Apply:

State of the Union: Chicago companies prefer H-1B visa holders over native workers, suit claims.

U.S. Tech Workers filed a complaint with the Department of Justice regarding discriminatory hiring practices against native workers in the city of Chicago. Concealing themselves behind language of entrepreneurial networking under the collective name "Chicago H-1B Connect," the complaint claims that a myriad of top corporations have been prioritizing H-1B visa holders over American citizens. Among those Chicagoland employers featured as "eager to employ the best and brightest in tech" are John Deere, Walgreens, Discover Financial Services, and the University of Chicago.
Around four dozen employers are listed as respondents for engaging in what the legal complaint characterizes as "an unlawful scheme of recruitment based on immigration status." Two specific nonprofits, P33 and World Business Chicago, are accused of operating as middlemen who help corporations in their pursuit of H-1B workers. The charge submitted to the DOJ catalogues incidents where American citizensalmost all of whom are degree holderswere unable to attain jobs in the tech space with employers using third party recruiting services for H1-B workers.

In one case, a complainant applied for a "Support Specialist" job at the University of Chicago and received a rejection. Then, two months later, he submitted the same resume, presenting as an H1-B worker through the name "Prashanth Patel." Mr. Patel was contacted four days later to inquire about his willingness to "relocate for the job."]

and there it is. Peple finally starting to demand from social contract what social contract is formed to provide.

Citizens have a reasonable expectation that their government will not let foreigners come across the border willy-nilly and take things, to include jobs. It's why most nations in the world do not engage in immigration. "Our jobs are for OUR people" is a very sensitive political issue in almost every country in the world. Except the USA.....where such normal human sentiments are denounced as racist, supremacist, colonialist, etc.....

It's why European nations have a "work permit" that are only issued to citizens or legal residents. You can go live in Europe if you want to, for as long as you want to. But bring your own money. If you want a job in Europe, then the process is a whole lot more difficult.

Although I admit it rubs against some of my free market inclinations, I can be a little regulatory in this regard. I used to work for a company that would sponsor H1-B visas, and I admit it bothered me. We regualry would have great American candidates passed over for a candidate who required sponsorship. Sometimes they were slightly better and sometimes it was a DEI hire, but I guarantee you none were ROI positive given all the expense of sponsorship. I am all for it if the candidate genuinely is special and can uniquely fill a business need but these were all MBAs that brought nothing unique to the table. We do need to return to some basic concept of nationalism that biases toward American workers, whose families have paid into the system for generations vs. immigrants whose primary value is checking a diversity box.
