The problem here is that it lends credence to the conspiracy theorists. Every time they are 1/100th correct you just add more and more of them.
i think changing the narrative to strategic and policy failures could align the truths of some previously called conspiracy theories (masks, mask mandates, death over counts, vaccine spread, etc.), while leaving the crazier ideas (like microchip insertion, Global Cabal, etc.) in the conspiracy theory category.

It deserves to be called out for what happened. We doubled down on masking when other spread prevention measures could have been a focus of time and resources. Doubled down on vaccines instead of early treatment. And we used an over counting of COVID deaths as a fear mechanism to drive both. Not to mention the unfortunate side effect of public paranoia that our fellow citizen is a potential bio-weapon that could kill us, and science as a political tool of control. Putting the US aside for a moment, I truly can't believe what some of these other nations are doing and getting away with.

In Israel, 14 the percent of the population over 20 that isn't vaccinated accounts for 50 percent of the hospitalizations. You need to give these vaccines their due.
What, as a pre treatment? Ok.

Bob Saget says Hi. I give Geraldo 2-3 months.
What did Bob Saget die from? I haven't been able to find the answer on line. Do you know?

This is not a TV show. It takes more than 20 minutes to get a cause of death.
Thanks, genius. I was asking him because he appears to claim to know....which he would not.
We can speculate he got a booster heart attack bc that would be my guess or else he just had a 65 year old guy heart attack.

He did a whole lot of cocaine in his day. I suspect age is the answer.
In all fairness to Geraldo, he took a few bites of humble pie the other day on Fox News. He apologized about his adversarial behavior against the unvaxxed and said he was wrong. Very rare for anyone to admit they were wrong these days, - especially a journalist! I tip my hat to Geraldo.

I said all this early summer '20. Can't steal life and development from children, people need to be productive to be healthy, just protect the vulnerable, consider the mental/healthcare/economic costs of shutting down, consider "from" vs "with" when looking at these stats, this will become endemic, never go away, vaccines haven't driven away the flu, etc... We just have to learn to live with it.

Buddies, including some left wingers, told me: "people will eventually get there - it will just take a while - they're scared."

I thought it would take a few months. I didn't think it would take TWO DAMN YEARS...

Our institutions and media have caused incalculable damage. We are in a sorry, sorry state.

Bottom line is a lot of people benefitted greatly in the short term from this pandemic. Tech companies, pharma companies, large cap companies generally, govt institutions and actors found themselves suddenly exceedingly important and got to flex, media (loves the fear porn), etc. Upper class and upper middle class living on investments or the laptop economy did just fine. And we were all willing to let young people, working class, small businesses, kids in bad or struggling families, etc. take all the hits. Entire series of events has been beyond shameful. Now, finally, enough people are sick of the hassle and theater that common sense has to prevail...

This is a virus with an extremely high survival rate and reasonable predictability regarding who is really at risk (and it is not young people). Imagine if some really bad **** hit the fan. Imagine what we, the American people, would be willing to immediately sacrifice on the altar of the nanny state for the illusion of safety.

It's amazing how you take this incident as a basis for slamming all teachers.

This teacher, this one teacher, needs some time to reflect from a jail cell, if the story is accurate.

He didn't say all teachers. He said teachers, as in more than one.

It's amazing how you try to put words in his mouth

Yes, that's how we refer to "more than one". No way that guy meant more than a handful...

No way he meant all either. Don't pretend it does.

His imprecision means either of us could be right. All I ask is that he tighten up his language.

Oh that's right, I forgot that you're the word salad guy. Here's a tip: quit jumping to conclusions based off something that someone never said.

I've never posted word salad. I go where the poster aims me, same as you.

You constantly try to argue words over points or principles, So yeah, you're the word salad guy.

Really though, you probably just have comprehension issues.

Lol. You need to look up "word salad". It will aid your comprehension.

Trump is a populist and a poll watcher. Despite all his bluster, he's got no real core belief. Both parties were pro lockdown and print and give away money. That's what he was gonna do.

Kinda like invading Iraq. If you see 80% public opinion coalesce based on an emotional reaction (anger on the one hand, fear on the other), hold onto your butts. We are about to do something historically and epically stupid.

He didn't really screw anything up until he beat the election irregularities to death. No matter what he had done with regard to covid would have been reported, breathlessly by the media, as the exact wrong thing to do. His response was probably as good as anyone's would have been and far less authoritarian than most would have been. The only thing he could have done better was to hand out less money and refused to shut down anything after the first 30 days.

He never was really a limited government guy - much more of a populist - and he was happy to open up the checkbook for the giveaways which were necessary to support the lockdowns. He finally realized the error of his ways, but the horse was way out of the barn by then.

If he gave a tinker's dam about the party or the country, he would've done everything in his power to help keep the Georgia senate races from going Democrat, but he was too wrapped up in his own *****

Trump took a giant dump on Georgia without any regard for consequence. His first mistake on the GA Senate race was going for Kelly Loeffler over Doug Collins. And no way David Perdue should have lost his race. Now Trump's collateral damage with Kemp could put the governor's race in play for Stacy Abrams as he and Perdue, instead of being the Senator, are tearing at each other. Shoe in Lieutenant Governor Duncan has declined to run because of the insanity from 2020, so even that's up for grabs now.

He leaned into the shutdowns, massive handouts, and the big unemployment payments.

We are incredibly fortunate that Biden has done such a terrible job that he has no leverage on Manchin or Sinema (really the opposite - they can't very well follow him).
Sure, if you're into blaming Trump for other issues and problems instead of looking more carefully at causes.

Because I haven't looked carefully at the causes…

These people are insane. Let your teen walk around on what could be a fractured ankle because you don't want to catch a virus. Ok, parent of the year...

I believe Trump is the cause of the things listed.

I continue to be amazed at how stupid, irrational, and anti-reason the average American can be.
